French-Lebanese producer Julien Jabre is one of the essential names in House music, with a career spanning over 20 years. His versatile approach was inspired by years of crate digging and underground discoveries, the most famous one being his unearthing and popularizing the classic gospel disco track Stand on the Word.
Keeping this in mind, we asked Jabre to curate for us a mixtape of the music that influenced him as an artist and as a person. The result consists unsurprisingly of a number of gems crossing all genres and periods.
The playlist below serves as a short visit to the artist’s upbringing, culture, entourage, and musical mind. Expect to hear African (Bonga), Disco (Sylvester), Jazz (Keith Jarrett), Electronic (Aphrodisiac), and more.
