Armed with a commanding voice and powerful songwriting, Nina Simone became one of the most important musicians of the last century. Originally a classical pianist, her style came to incorporate elements of Jazz, Blues, and Gospel. Besides composing and writing hits, she covered a wide range of popular songs, interpreting it in an eclectic style and make those songs, her own.
