If you follow the techno scene in Lebanon, you’ve probably heard the name. Chronicles aimed to showcase our local talent to the world, but quickly and unexpectedly reached their bigger goal: uniting those who come for the love of music.
In 2017, Chronicles was born with an aim to deliver good music to our country and the world with their weekly “Rendezvous”, smoothly introducing our local talent to the international scene via live Facebook videos. A few months later, when I met with the team, I found out that their Rendezevous projects were fully booked for several months. In only 1 year, Chronicles have managed to gain success and popularity, moving on to bigger projects, throwing events with major international DJs at Lebanon’s most renowned clubs. In celebration of 365 days of success, they’re throwing a massive 2-day party, bringing some of my personal favorites: Pig & Dan and Miyagi.
How did Chronicles come to life?
The team behind chronicles has been in the music and F&B industries for quite some time actually. At some point in time, a partnership opportunity with Sub:merged, based in Amsterdam and Scotland, presented itself, and we joined forces.
At first, your project was promoting DJs by filming them playing their sets and publishing live videos online. Today, you’re a part of the nightlife scene, throwing events with major International artists. Was this your plan from the start?
“RendezVous” was essentially our first project because we wanted to showcase Lebanese talent to the international scene. We had always aimed for hosting major events with international artists, but we didn’t expect things to escalate this quickly.
With all the competition in the techno scene in Lebanon, it’s inevitable to face some obstacles throughout your journey. What are some of those obstacles?
The competition in Lebanon is fierce! However, we’ve managed to dodge all relevant obstacles with a collaborative and good will philosophy. We’ve been a part of this scene for almost 10 years, and all we want to do is to share the love that we have for it.
With the cluster in the techno scene, it’s hard to be different. What makes Chronicles different?
Chronicles is way more than a brand, Chronicles is a catalyst to the scene. The feedback we have been receiving from international artists, managements, and most importantly local DJs and ravers after our out of the box approach has truly been overwhelming.
In just one year, we’ve seen Chronicles emerge quickly and grab people’s attention. Did you expect things to escalate this fast? What are your future plans?
We didn’t at all expect the hype to be this big! We just felt the hype growing with each event, which gave us huge motivation. The future looks bright, that’s all we can say right now.
In celebration of your first year anniversary, you’re throwing a 2 day events bringing some of the most talented artists: Pig & Dan and Miyagi. Tell us a bit about what this night has in store for us.
For our anniversary we wanted to plan something different – a 2 day party with headliners on both nights.
On the first night, we will be hosting the massive duo, Pig & Dan, for some big room Techno at HNGR, supported by Fady Ferraye and Anthon.
On the second day we will be at the Notch – Faqra for the whole day. The place will be divided into a chill-out area with live cooking stations near the pool, and a huge terrace where Miyagi will take us on a sunset deep house journey, playing alongside our local talents: Markus, Anthon, Nesta, 2Third, and Madjam.
So there you have it – your plans for next week. See you all on the dance floors.
